Donald Carli: Bio
Donald Carli is the founder and President of Nima Hunter Inc. He has
over 25 years of experience in marketing research and strategic planning.
He is a consulting editor and contributor to numerous publications in
the US and Europe including Actuel Grafisk Information, Ethical Corporation
magazine, Graphic Communications World, PrintMedia magazine, Print On
Demand Business, Printing Impressions and Booktech magazines. He has written
numerous articles on marketing and marketing strategy, corporate social
responsibility management, knowledge management, e-learning, environmentally
preferable procurement and recycling. He has also written extensively
on trends, issues and technologies related to publishing, printing, and
imaging such as variable data printing, content management, color proofing
futures, print on demand digital printing and wireless imaging.
Mr. Carli has been a featured speaker or keynote presenter at major conferences
in the US and Europe including Seybold Scandinavia, Siggraph, Spectrum,
PrintMedia, TAGA, and GraphExpo. He was recently invited by California
Polytechnic University to present a lecture titled "Sustainability
and The Greening of Print" in the 2002 distinguished scholar lecture
series "Communication Technology: The Next 50 Years."
From 1991 to 1993 he was co-founder and Technical Director of the HiFi
Color Project, a landmark effort to pinpoint and stimulate demand for
advanced color printing technologies that was supported by over 40 companies
including Adobe, AGFA, Apple, DuPont, Kodak, Fuji, Scitex, and Zanders
USA.
From 1981-1986 he held various management, marketing research and strategic
planning positions including Strategic Planning Manager, Technical Director,
and Production Operations Manager of the Crafton Graphic Company of New
York. He served as a market and technology analyst for Crafton's parent
company, SanomaWSOY of Helsinki Finland, a diversified communications
firm that is the largest publisher and printer of magazines, newspapers
and related products in Scandinavia. SanomaWSOY's five divisions cover
a broad field, from news, information services and printing, to books,
learning solutions, and entertainment.
From 1976 through 1980 he collaborated in the publication of limited
editions as technical director and Master Printer collaborating with artists
including Joseph Albers, Robert Motherwell, Frank Stella, Roy Lichtenstein
and David Hockney. From 1974-1976 Don completed an apprenticeship to Master
Printer Kenneth Tyler and was employed as a Master Printer at Tyler Graphics
in Bedford New York.
Mr. Carli received his BA in English Literature and Fine Arts from St.
Lawrence University in 1974. He completed studies toward an MA in Visual
Arts and was a graduate teaching assistant at Hunter College of the City
University of New York from 1977-80.
